Cooktown

While in Far North Queensland for the community visits, we stayed in Cooktown, a town named for Captain Cook. There are several statues of him around. It's rather small, but quite pretty. There are small hills and a bay. The hotels we were staying in were all along the main street, as were most of the restaurants, bars, and clubs.

The day of our second community visit, we were already much closer -- about an hour's drive away. So we had a bit of time in the morning to wander. We also returned a little earlier in the evening, so caught the sunset over the water before heading out to watch the game (more on that soon).

So just a few images from Cooktown, mostly of the sunset. The large rock is a white ant, or termite, hill. They are all over this part of Queensland. And, of course, a few flowers that I liked but, of course, can't identify. Oh, and the very cool shower from our apartment.
