After breakfast at home, we stopped for take away coffee. Our first stop was the University of the Sunshine Coast, to try to spy some kangaroos. Seems that there is a small herd that makes its home on the campus here, and they'd seen several of them just two weeks before with my colleague Shannon.

And we were in luck! Heaps of kangaroos, as they would say. There were more than a dozen, and several of them had joeys in the pocket too. You won't really be able to tell here, but if you can zoom in on the photos, you might see the little legs sticking out...

Roo tracks.

These two were the most active for a while, with the one finally getting up for a big stretch, a healthy scratch, and a massive yawn! It was quite the show, from momma roo.

And yes, we knew it was momma because of the joey! In this photo, instead of feet, we got a sweet little head.

No, it's not photoshopped.

Finally, some hopping action. But tough to catch this with photos.
Back to the highway, and we were off again. We were headed for the Eumundi Markets, to do a bit of sight-seeing shopping, and, more importantly, to grab lunch. The markets are HUGE. It was remarkable. There's tons we didn't see. It's like a combination of farmer's market, really good fresh food court, flea market, and craft market. We did do a little shopping, and also provisioned ourselves with a nice picnic. This was important, because our next stop was Noosa State Park, where we expected to do some walking and hiking. But first, before we even got to the markets, Greg pulled off the road.....

Ah, the big pineapple! Apparently, there are 37 Big Things in Australia, all kitschy and fabulous. This pineapple is in Nambour, where there is also a macadamia (which we didn't know about at the time). Many of them aren't even big enough to go in, and some look more like miniature golf course decorations. But hey, it could have been a muffler, and instead was a very cool pineapple.
